Riverfront Project
Nashville is booming, but many downtown residents are wary of explosive growth. Second Avenue Partners had a vision for a transformative $325 million skyscraper on the Cumberland River in SoBro, but faced organized opposition to win an amendment to the downtown code necessary to green-light the project. Hall Strategies helped lead the client to victory with a sharp strategy to directly engage critics, align advocates and to generate community trust and buy-in that paved the way for success. We held proactive community meetings to listen to concerns, and to respond with transparent information, effective messaging and material defining the project, and communicating accurate information in the media.
After our community relations strategy was completed, at a time when many Nashville residents were concerned by Nashville’s rapid growth, 80% out of 720 respondents in a Nashville Business Journal poll were in favor of the project.
This set the stage for a huge victory: the Metro Planning voted in favor by a margin of 7 to 1 to allow the project to move forward with a skyline redefining vision for 40 stories on the Cumberland River.
