Hall Strategies Named National Award Finalist
Hall Strategies is proud to share that it has been named a finalist in PR Daily’s 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards!
Our media relations campaign announcing the historic discovery of the cemetery for enslaved people at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage was recognized for its strategic storytelling, impactful results, and meaningful connection to history.
Hall Strategies was brought on as a partner for the Hermitage when, in 2024, after a decades-long search, The Hermitage — Andrew Jackson’s historic home and Presidential site just outside of Nashville, Tennessee — confirmed the location of a cemetery for enslaved people on its property, a significant historical discovery with profound cultural implications. Utilizing advanced archaeological methods, including ground-penetrating radar, researchers identified a burial site of an estimated 28 enslaved people who lived at The Hermitage.
Hall Strategies supported communications and stake holder engagement and led media relations announcing the discovery of the cemetery for enslaved people at The Hermitage. The discovery was widely and positively covered by an array of local, national and international outlets. All in all, there were 224 unique media placements in 127 media outlets, including the front page of The New York Times and the Tennessean, as well as coverage in Newsweek, The Independent, ABC News, Smithsonian Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Toronto Star, Washington Post, and Popular Mechanics, among many others. There were 48 TV stories about the cemetery and 129 radio segments on stations across the country. In total, the messages in the release reached a combined audience of more than 1 billion around the globe.
Winners of the 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards will be announced this September in NYC – stay tuned!
